Discipleship in Action

The psalms offered as examples this week can be seen as a sequence of truths that builds upon each other. Since God's sovereignty undergirds the universe, we can have confidence that He will hear our prayers. His answers to our prayer increase our faith and draw us into closer relationship with Him. When believers praise God for His works, they recognise that His actions go infinitely beyond all the requests they might include in their prayers.

When we offer to God continual praise, we are reminded that H is at work for our good even in those seasons of life when we cannot sense His activity. God may not immediately bring healing from a sickness, release from sorrow, or rescue from catastrophe; but the Psalmist reminds us that God is always working for our good and is always worthy of our praise. And remember, the God of infinite power over all creation still compassionately watches over each one of us.
